Open Thread for July

“Now the opal alcove in which the King sits at evening by the lake stands at the edge of the jungle, and the climbing orchids of the jungle have long since crept from their homes through clefts of the opal alcove, lured by the lights of the lake, and now bloom there exultingly.” Lord Dunsany, The Fall of Babbulkund

  1. Old Thunder Thighs is now into the semi-finals of the women’s sprint cycling. I don’t want to get hopes up, but it seems like at last her form is peaking, after giving everyone a scare.

There could still be one more medal in this deluge for HK.

It won’t be coming from Tiffany Chan in the golf – she came equal 50th, and then blamed it on her equipment. I’m happy that her dismal failure will not spawn a new generation of wannabe golfers.
